Schedule of Prospective Parent Meetings
Typically children enter our school at age 2 or 3 and plan to stay with the program through elementary school. If space permits, a child 4 yrs old (or older) will be considered after an interview/evaluation and with a strong commitment by the family to remain in our school long-term. Families who indicate that they plan to remain through the Elementary grades will be given priority placement. Enrollment will not be offered when it is believed that the child might only complete 1 to 2 years in this environmment. Precedence is given to siblings when a family has demonstrated support of the program and the Montessori philosophy in the past.
1. Review our website information thoroughly to learn about our programs. General information is also available by mail.
2. Attend a Prospective Parent Meeting with our Head of School. Meetings are held on designated Thursday afternoons at 4:00pm (see schedule below). A reservation may be made by email or telephone (301-601-0991). These meetings will offer an opportunity to visit the school, learn about our program, the Montessori philosophy, and ask specific questions.
2. Submit an Enrollment Application Form. Application forms may be downloaded, or contact us to receive an information packet by mail. Enrollment applications will be accepted as early as September for the following school year. We have a rolling admissions policy and will enroll mid-year if space permits.
We recommend that you submit your application by February 1 for admission in September, however, we continue to accept applications until all spaces are filled..
3. Once we receive your application form, we will contact you to arrange a Parent Observation (optional) and a follow-up Parent Interview. The interview will present the opportunity to discuss your classroom observations and your child, specifically. Children who are 4 years old or older, or those children entering school midyear will also meet with a teacher prior to acceptance.
4. Parents will also be asked to submit a statement clarifying their family's educational goals. Notices of acceptance and Enrollment Contracts will be forwarded by mail beginning mid to late February for the following September. Each new child will meet his teacher and visit his new classroom just prior to the start of school.
